Principle
Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrometer (FTIR) operates based on the principle of interferometry. Light emitted from an infraredsource undergoes path length differences within an interferometer, generating interference patterns. After passing through the sample, specific frequencies are absorbed by molecules. A detector receives the interference signal containing absorption information, yielding an interference pattern. Finally, a Fourier transform converts the time-domain interference pattern into a frequency-domain infraredspectrum, thereby revealing the sample's molecular structure and composition. Its core advantages include high optical throughput, rapid scanning, and high wavenumber accuracy.
